Chasing Lincoln's Killer

James L. Swanson
In this book, Lincoln is shot in the head during an acting show by John Booth. They don't really explain how the wife felt after this incident. The wife was sitting right next to him when this happened. Lincoln's wife must be having mixed emotions at this time. She obviously will be sad because her husband died. She will probably be mad at the person who shot her husband, maybe even mad at herself. Since she was right next to him when this happened, she might be thinking she could have done something to stop it. People have weird minds during these times, blaming themselves when they did all they could. She also might be disturbed because she witnessed someone getting shot right in front of her. Someone at my church has just experienced the loss of their husband. She might be having some of the same emotions as Lincoln's wife, maybe different. I feel like the death of someone who is special to us is very hard to accept. It can lead to people doing some crazy things because they miss that person that they cared about so much, they don't feel like they can survive without them. The effect of death can affect many people without them realizing. This part of the book made me really think about the people who have been through this, especially the person at my church.
